Pampered Chef Mishap

In every house we've lived in I've had to get used to how the oven bakes...too hot, not hot enough, hot spots, etc. But I've never had to get used to how a dishwasher washes...until now. Yesterday I put my Pampered Chef Pitcher in the dishwasher (like I've done hundreds of times before.) And I ran the dishwasher. But when I was putting away the clean dishes and removed the pitcher...Ahhh! Here are a few pictures of what happened to it. (And for those of you who are curious, you can see my fabulous kitchen in the background.)

Fire in Draper!

Yesterday around 1:00 Emily called to see if I could "see the fire" from our house. I was completely unaware that there was a fire, but when I stepped outside, this is what I saw...

The fire started on the mountain close to our house but, with help from the wind, quickly spread north so we were no longer in danger. However, many people had to evacuate their homes for the afternoon and into the evening. They seem to have the fire mostly in control now but it did give me quite a scare.

Go Bees!

We are adjusting well to life in Utah and had a great weekend. Spencer got free tickets to the Salt Lake Bees (baseball) Game on Friday night. Our friend, Jeff Hertzler, works there too so we let him know we were coming. He hooked us up with free food and even better seats. We were right behind Home Plate! It was so nice to see Jeff again and can't wait to have his family over to our house for a BBQ. After the game, they had a big firework display. The boys really loved that part. The Bees lost, big time, by the way. I forgot my camera so this is the only picture I have from the evening, and I took it from my phone!

New!

Because of the move we have a new address and new phone numbers. I'm not going to post them on my blog but if you want them, leave a comment with your e-mail address or send me an e-mail and I'll reply.

First Day of First Grade

Cameron started school Monday. He sort of had a hard day because his new school is on a year-round schedule and the class he started with yesterday has been in session since July 28th so the other kids already knew the routine and he was a little confused. I asked him what he ate for lunch and he said, "They said it was macaroni and cheese but it didn't look like anything I'd eaten before!" I'm sure he'll adjust quickly...

The BIG Move

We moved from Idaho Falls to Utah on Thursday, August 14th and Friday, August 15th. We loaded the truck in IF on Thursday with the help of Spencer's dad, Dave, our home teacher, Jeff, Elder's Quorum President, Matthew, and friends, the Jones. Spencer's parents then took our boys to my parents house for dinner and bedtime. Spence and I stayed behind and cleaned the house.

Early Friday morning we left for Utah. Spence drove the U-Haul, I drove our minivan, and Ryan and my dad drove our 2nd car. No'el and my mom and the girlies came later that afternoon. Spencer, dad, Ryan, and Jeff had the U-Haul unloaded within a couple of hours! Now I'm super busy unpacking boxes. We are so grateful that we had family to help us with this move. They say that Utah "is the place" and I'm sure I'll feel that way soon but it was a bittersweet move for us because we'll miss our family and friends SO much!

Last days in Idaho Falls

Although we had a hot tub at our home in Idaho Falls, it was a rare occasion that we let the boys sit in it. Imagine how happy they were when I opened it up and let them play one afternoon before the move to Utah!

Afternoon in Blackfoot

To pass the time yesterday, we went to Blackfoot. We had lunch with Megan & Ashley, and their kids. Then Megan let Cameron & Gavin ride the pony (with Ashley's help). Cam was a little nervous at first but quickly relaxed and rode around the corral. Gavin was eager & had no fear.

Then we met Granny, Abbie, and Avery and went to Jensen's Grove to play in the water and on the swings. Grandpa joined us and we had dinner at Winger's. Yum. We're dealing with a little attitude problem without dad to crack the whip so we had to go home after dinner instead of playing at Granny's. The boys were so tired that they fell asleep before we got to the interstate.

Happy 8th Anniversary!

Today is our 8th Anniversary! Unfortunately, we're not in the same city today so we'll be spending it alone. Spencer started his new job in Utah today. I'm still in Idaho, trying to sell our house. (The alternator in our van went out today so I got to deal with that, too.) But we're very happy that we found each other 8 years ago and we know that we'll be together next anniversary. Our wedding pictures are in a box somewhere but Cam took this picture of us yesterday...
