Gavin's a Preschool Graduate!!!

Gavin graduated from Preschool on May 26th. It was getting a little "iffy" if he would be able to participate in graduation due to his naughty, naughty behavior. We decided that if he is not fully entertained, he get's a "little out of control" (his words.) So since they had to practice the graduation program more than once, he lost control a couple of times and he was threatened with not being able to be in it if he didn't settle down. But he showed his teachers that he could obey and sit nicely.

He has learned so much this year and I credit his progress to his preschool teachers, Mrs. Sarah and Mrs. Julie. They were ultra patient with him and he is already beginning to read. He knows all of his letters and sounds and he's just super smart! (A little too smart if you ask me.) He made some really good friends in preschool that he will miss when he goes to kindergarten next year. Here are a few pics from the actual GRADUATION!

Meet our NEW Babysitter

I have wanted to buy the boys a trampoline for a really long time. But Spence didn't have a trampoline when he was a little boy so he didn't realize what a necessity having one was. In the past little bit I got Gavin on board and he began asking his dad for one at least weekly. Finally Spencer gave in!!! Spence and the boys set it up last night (with a little help from mom & Aunt Callie).

It didn't take too long before the Styer boys were happily jumping! They woke up first thing this morning and headed to the trampoline. And they've pretty much been out there since (only pausing long enough for a snack or lunch.)

Gavin's Soccer Season

Gavin's soccer season is OVER! Technically there is one more game but it happens to be at the same time as Preschool Graduation next week so he played his last game yesterday. He even scored a goal!!! His team was called the Yellow Rocks...don't you just love the names 5-year-olds come up with? He was fun to watch because he would giggle and smile the entire time. He has so much energy and he's already looking forward to next season. Here he is taking a breather:

In action:

Getting treats after the game (the best part):

We told the team we'd like to take a few pictures so they all lined up. They couldn't just stand still though so we got one or two serious poses and then they all wanted to pull silly faces. What fun!

Busy Life and a Couple of Thank-You's!

It seems like we've been going non-stop this week but that's because we have. Due to our rainy spring weather and cancelled soccer games, Cam had games Monday and Tuesday nights, Gavin had a game Wednesday night. Also Wednesday night, I had my Spring Piano Recital. I had 21 students perform and the recital only lasted 1 hour. Everyone did great, I honestly could not have been more proud of them. Most had their pieces memorized. The best part of the recital is that the Piano Gallery, where we had the recital, makes a DVD for the teacher so I'll be able to share it with anyone who is interested. I really love teaching piano lessons and hope to be able to continue for a long time. I plan to take a break when the babies are born but to start back up once we're in a routine. It's part of what makes me feel good about myself. I love to see those kids grow.

We are now starting in to a busy schedule of doctor's appointments. We get to have the super-ultrasound every 4 weeks and see my regular doctor every 2 weeks so if anyone wants 2 adorable boys any Wednesday morning, let me know...it would be much appreciated! We'll be starting into weekly appointments mid-June. Busy, busy!

Last week we got a package in the mail from my mom and dad. Enclosed were these cute things:

And yesterday, Spencer brought a gift home from our dear friends, the Hertzler's. Inside were these:

Both sets are Preemie-sized and are so TINY!!! I giggle every time I look at them because they are just adorable! Thanks (Mom and Alyssa) for thinking of us when you go to the store and for helping us prepare for our twins.

A couple other cute things we've picked up in the last week:

(Callie bought the pink one.)
And isn't this the cutest iron-on ever?

What should I put it on...hats, onesies, ???

Mother's Day

A quick shout out needs to be given to my husband and boys for the way I was treated on Mother's Day. In summary, Spencer gave me a beautiful corsage with 4 red mini-roses (indicating our 4 boys) and 1 pink mini-rose (for our baby girl). For some reason I couldn't get a very clear picture of it but you get the idea.

Spencer did dishes before we left for church, made dinner when we got home, and cleaned up the entire mess so I wouldn't have to deal with it Monday morning! Because I had to go to church early (I sang with a group of women in Sacrament Meeting and we had to practice one last time), he also got the boys to church on time and with smiles on their faces. Thanks for everything, Spence. I Love You!

Also for Mother's Day, my mom paid for her 3 daughters to get pedicures...a much needed pampering since Em & I both have a hard time taking care of our feet at this moment. And Dave & Tisa brought me a bouquet and a gift card to Kohl's...hooray, since they have maternity clothes. I'm thankful for both our moms because they are such good examples and friends.

A Few Things about the Babies

On May 5th we went to have a super-duper ultrasound. As I've mentioned before, each time I see my regular doctor we get to view the babies on his ultrasound machine but because I'm considered "high risk" because we're having multiples, we got to go to the Perinatology Unit at IMC to have an ultrasound performed on a machine worth half-a-million dollars! Needless to say, this machine is incredible! Granted, the ultrasound took 1.5 hours but during it we were not only able to see that we are expecting one boy and one girl but also that they each have 10 fingers and 10 toes, fully functioning hearts, completely developed lips, & brain activity you wouldn't believe. We also learned that our babies are stacked on top of each other, (not side by side), that they each have their own placenta and sack (which is the best thing for twins, I'm told), and that because Baby Girl is higher and Baby Boy is lower, chances are pretty good that he'll be born first and she'll be born second...making her the only girl AND the baby of the family! We couldn't be more thrilled.

A few other things to note: At the time of the ultrasound, Baby Boy was measuring 10 days early, Baby Girl was measuring 7 days early. If they are still measuring this far ahead of schedule at our next fancy ultrasound, they'll actually change my due date accordingly! I saw my regular doctor today and discovered that although I thought I was 19 weeks along, I am really 19 weeks and 5 days so my doctor kept referring to me as 20 weeks. There is nothing better than telling a pregnant woman that she is further along than she thought she was! At our original appointment he told us to expect some physical restrictions beginning at 20 weeks but today he told us that everything is looking great and we won't start restricting things until 24 weeks. This first half of pregnancy has gone extremely quick for me. Also noteworthy is that I'm measuring at 28-29 weeks.

Many people ask how I feel and honestly, I feel great! I am tired, very tired, and I get winded when going up and down stairs but as long as I can get a little nap in the middle of the day and put my feet up in the evenings, I can accomplish most normal things throughout the day. However, it needs to be said that my husband and sister, Callie, have really stepped it up in helping out with cooking and cleaning and our house would be a disaster without them. My visiting teacher has helped out a ton with running kids to and from soccer practice, school, etc. And my in-laws took Gavin and Owen for a sleepover Tuesday night just because I was at my wits end with the boys. I'm lucky to have so many great people around me.

Drumroll, please....
