I don't claim to be GREAT at much but I think I have finally mastered how to cut a watermelon into perfect bite size little pieces. See how I go from this:

Jane Tew is a Survivor
We were lucky enough to be in Blackfoot on the same weekend as the Relay for Life so we were able to watch Granny Jane walk the "survivor's lap" and join her on the 2nd lap. It's always a little emotional as they read the Cancer Survivor's names and say how long they've been cancer free. However, this year they read, "Janet Tew" which made us giggle instead of tear up. We are so glad that our mom, mother-in-law, and granny beat this disease and that we can spend a few hours remembering that each year.

Aloha & Happy Birthday, Chopper!
Grandma Tisa and Grandpa Dave are finally back in Utah after living in Hawaii for 6+ years. They live just 8 miles from our house so the boys have been able to see them often. They even spent the majority of Saturday with them and loved it! Here are a couple of pictures that we took the first day they were back. See the cool "Hawaii 09" shirts and neat blue hats?
Uncle Chopper had a birthday on June 12th so we invited him over for Sunday dinner. Dave & Tisa also came and brought the birthday cake. This is Uncle Chopper blowing out his candles (actually, I forgot to get candles so he's blowing out a couple of matches!)

Banana Races
Last night was our ward's Pinewood Derby and, because of my new calling, the whole family went to watch. I wanted Cameron to see what's in store for him next year. After the Scouts raced their cars, they invited all the younger children to get a banana and strap it to a special car that they could race on the track. They did several races and in the end raced the Top Two Bananas...and Gavin won!!! If you know Gavin at all, you know that he jumped up and down a lot while doing "windmill arms." It was a great night!

Must Be Summer...
It must be summer because last night my boys went from looking like this:
To this:
Almost there: (these are their "rocker" hair cuts, according to Gavin)
And finally to this:
Okay, dismal weather, go away...the boys are buzzed and it's time to play!

Bees, Haircuts, & Big Decisions
It was the yearly go-to-the-Bees-game with other Platt employees on Friday night. The boys absolutely loved it! When we first got there, one of the other employees told my boys that they should walk down to the players while they were warming up and ask for a ball. Cameron (usually shy) jumped up and ran down without any hesitation. The player said that maybe they'd get him a ball later in the game. A little disappointed, he came back to the group. Then during the 4th inning, he went back down to ask again. This player wasn't nearly as nice and just said they didn't give balls out anymore. Whatever!! A few innings later there was a foul ball hit in our general direction. One of the guys in the Platt group caught it and gave it to the boys. They were thrilled! A few minutes later Bumble (the mascot) was walking around and Cam ran to get his autograph. They had a nice fireworks display following the game and the boys were so good for the entire evening. There is nothing more fun than spending time as a family.
I got to enjoy a little pampering session on Saturday morning. Callie cut my hair at her school/salon. I wanted to take a few pictures of her in action. Please disregard the way I look with a cape on and wet hair. Not my best look!
We've had to make some big decisions regarding our house in Idaho Falls. We've had it on the market for 4 months, had one prospective buyer, and lots of lookers. But we're getting to the point that we have to get someone in it so we are taking it off the market, in hopes that we can get someone to rent it for a year and then we'll try to sell it again. We'll be listing it through an agency in Idaho Falls but if anyone needs a great house to rent (or knows of anyone who does) send me an e-mail and we'll see what we can work out. Until then, keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
