Soccer Season Ends

Cameron played in his final spring soccer game today in Ucon. The Orange Tigers (his team) played against many of the kids he played with last season so it was fun to see them. We only had 5 players show-up (4 others were camping and 1 just didn't show) so we had to borrow a couple of players from the other team to play. Cam got to be the goalie for the 1st and 4th quarters. He did really well and had to dive to prevent a couple of goals from going in. This is the first time we haven't totally dominated the game so it was exciting and a fun one to end on.

Our friends, Dawson and Noah, were missed at this game but we hope they had a great weekend with their families!

Two Destructive Boys!

We bought the boys their own tent this year. It is only 5 feet x 4 feet but it is blue camouflauge and can be set up quickly in the back yard or wherever we go camping this summer and it is perfect for 2 little boys. I decided that as a little "treat" I'd set it up for them and let them take naps outside on Friday. I did my part but within a few minutes they had broken the zipper (which I fixed) and then Cam decided to see if a tree branch could poke all the way through it very easily. It did. So now we have a new tent for the boys with a hole. I guess that's what curious boys do...

Cam's Field Day

Yesterday was Kindergarten Field Day. I was lucky enough to get to go and be there the entire time. Thanks to Adrienne for babysitting Gavin and Owen. The weather was overcast but the teachers decided that as long as it wasn't raining, we would stay outside.

The kids participated in 5 outdoor events...beanbag toss, bubble blowing,

jump rope,

potato sack race,

and hot wheel race.

They also did sidewalk chalk art (Cam drew SpongeBob and a "dancing starfish")

and made an art project in their classrooms.

Then they got to climb through a cardboard "dragon" and find the treasure chest of treats!

What a great day for a kindergartner.

May 26th

May 26th was Emily and Jeff's anniversary. At their wedding, 2 years ago, Uncle Mike proposed a toast that I still remember (sort of). He said something like, "May you look back on this day, your wedding day, as the time that you loved each other the least."

I thought about that all day because I do love Spencer more today than I did August 4, 2000. I am so grateful that we found each other and that our love continues to grow.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Em & Jeff. We love you!

What is with the Weather?

I am so annoyed by the weather in Idaho! Earlier this week it was hot and we were thinking about putting in our window air conditioners. Now it is overcast and rainy and we're putting extra blankets back on our beds. I just don't understand how we can go from Fun in the Sun on the 16th to this...in 1 short week!

Spring Piano Duet Recital

Last night was the piano recital for my 19 students. They each played a duet with another student. It was quite a challenge getting them all prepared for it but the night was fabulous and everyone did such a great job. Cameron played with cousin, Oaklee and they did a really good job (I was more nervous for their number than any of the others). I had 2 students who were battling strep/high fevers and another student who had a minor accident that required some stitches in her hand and until the last minute I didn't know if everyone would be able to participate. But they all did and I'm so relieved it is over! By the way, I haven't been Cam's teacher for the past 6+ months. He has been taking from Amy Scarr who worked extra hard to get him prepared to play last night. She put in a lot of extra time for him and I'm grateful for all she has done to help him.

American Idol

This is my final post about American Idol, Season 7. I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the results...not because Cook won, I do think he is a talented guy, but I was flabbergasted (thanks for the word, Callie) by the margin that he won by. 56% to 44% ! I just thought it would be a little closer, that's all. However, I'm happy to announce that my mom and sisters and I will be attending the tour in SLC on July 14th and we are SO excited about that.

Nursery

Can you tell what Owen talked about in Nursery today? He has some of the greatest nursery leaders!

Family Fun Night?

Cam's school had a "Family Fun Night" on Friday. It was not all that fun. There were way too many people, way too few things to do, and it was HOT! They had a bouncy thing that the boys got to jump in for 3 minutes and a blow up dolphin slide. Cam & Gavin were so excited to go down that stupid thing and they got within 3 people when they decided to shut it down so the school could have everyone's attention for the RAFFLE. Grrr...and we didn't win anything in the raffle either.

They also had a few teenage girls doing "face painting." I put that in quotes because my boys wanted a football, basketball, and a soccer ball...see the pictures below and you be the judge.

In the end we just went and played on the playground which was much more fun...

Fun in the Sun!

We are finally starting to see some sun in Idaho Falls! Friday was SO warm that the boys (and Caden) played in their swimming suits for hours. Literally. Adrienne (Caden's mom) and I painted the rest of my living room and our stairs/hallway while they played. They had such a great time. It took a while for Gavin to decide to get wet. He was a little leary but eventually gave in. I wish my camera could capture sound because their giggles were contagious...

Salt Lake City

Spencer had to go to SLC for work meetings yesterday (Monday) and I got to go with him. We went down Sunday and stayed in a hotel. My mom kept the boys. I had booked the hotel through Priceline.com and was super excited when they accepted my bid of $45. I went to the hotel's website (it was called Residence Inn by Marriott) and found that their rooms started at $169/night! When we checked in to our room and opened the door we discovered that it was less like a "room" and more like a "suite." It had 2 seperate rooms, a living area/kitchen and the bedroom. On the back of the door it was posted that the normal rate for the room was $275/night! Here are a few pics of the hotel...

While Spence was in meetings I went and visited my sister, Emily, who had corrective eye surgery Friday the 9th. She is still in a lot of pain and can't tolerate any light so we sat in the dark of her apartment and visited. I did take pictures of her but she made me promise that they wouldn't be posted on the blog. She wears dark sunglasses in the house!

Then Callie (and her friend) met Spence and I for dinner at a really good BBQ place called "Good Wood." If you're ever in the Draper area, try it out!

We had such a nice time together. Thanks to my parents for keeping the boys. They also had a great time and Gavin even woke up in the middle of the night asking for Granny!

Izzy got a New Home!

Izzy got a new family with a mom and dad, a 16 month old little girl, and a baby-on-the-way! They live in Pocatello and they fell in love with her instantly. The boys feel a little sad about it but they know it is best for Owen.
