Bear Lake 2011

Almost as soon as Cameron got back from Idaho, we started preparing for our annual trip to Bear Lake, June 30th-July 2nd. This was our 4th trip to Bear Lake in 5 years...we didn't go last year. We were all very excited but I wanted to come home to a clean house so we cleaned and organized for a few days before we left. We also picked up the tent trailer from our friends, packed it up with all things needed for camping, and went grocery shopping. Then we were ready to head north Thursday morning. My parents left Blackfoot a few hours than we left our house so they beat us to our camp site. (Not to mention that we stopped in Logan for lunch and a Charlie's milkshake.)

We camped at Bear Lake North RV Park and Campground like we did in 2009. It's such a nice little place with toilets, showers, grass, privacy, shade, etc that is reasonably priced and perfect for our little family. My parents were already set up with a pop-up shade tent, chairs, and their trailer unhooked. Spence unhooked our trailer and then, because his wife is a little pushy, had to physically move the trailer so the door to our trailer and the door to my parents trailer would open toward each other. He is a trooper! Then he set up a tent for the boys to sleep in between the two trailers. Glad my dad was there to help him!

We stayed at camp that day. My parents made a delicious dutch oven dinner and Spence popped popcorn over the campfire.

The next day was when we went to the beach. Bear Lake's beach is so much different this year due to the super high water levels. In years past, we've been able to drive our cars on the beach to wherever we wanted to set up. It was so easy and convenient. This year, we had to actually park in the parking lot and haul all the equipment...floaties, coolers, shade shelter, umbrellas, chairs, diaper bags, etc. It took a lot of work but was worth it. Callie & Mike drove up for the day and we all had fun playing in the water and getting a little bit of sun.

When we'd had enough, we went back to camp and had hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh salsa, and raspberry cobbler before Callie & Mike left to drive back.

One thing I want to remember is Lucky, the dog that thinks he owns the RV park. I was sort of nervous about him because Owen is quite afraid of dogs. However, he LOVED that dog!

We sadly planned to leave camp Saturday morning. We debated on going back to the beach but decided against it...we'll have to plan an extra beach day next year. Spencer wanted to drive around the entire Bear Lake since we weren't in any hurry to get home. So we did. We drove and we drove and we drove. Babies slept. Boys slept. And I slept. It was wonderful. We went back through Logan and met Uncle Tom for lunch at the Bluebird. We made another important stop so that Spencer could have his 2nd Charlie's milkshake in 3 days. Then he decided to drive through Sardine Canyon, past the new temple site in Brigham City, and on the back roads to Willard, or was it Ogden? Long story short, the drive that should have taken us 3 hours, took 5+. Oh well. It was fun.

We were grateful that we had the tent trailer again for this camping trip. It just makes camping much better. We were glad to have spent the time with my parents...good times, good memories. And I was especially glad that my mom had her camera with her because after I had taken 3 pictures, my battery died!

You are a trooper...I thought staying in the cabin was roughing it at Island Park ;) Of course, I have never really been a camper or an outdoorsy girl! Look like you guys had a lot of fun!
