Fishin'

Granny & Grandpa & Callie took the grandkids fishing while we were in Idaho last weekend. (Spencer went too.) They had a great time and the boys are still talking about it.

TAG--I'm It!

I was tagged on my friend Jen's blog and these are the rules of the tag:
1. Link the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write 6 random things about yourself.
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
5. Let the person know you tagged them on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when you've posted.

So here are 6 random things about me...

1. I count stairs every time I go up or down them. The house we live in right now has 8 stairs, then a small landing, then 6 more stairs.
2. I recently joined Facebook.
3. I am insulin resistant.
4. I have been married for 8 years and have moved 9 times as a Styer.
5. I watch or record The Ellen Degeneres Show every day.
6. I just got called to teach the 11 and 12 year old Primary Class with Spencer!

And I'll tag Emily, Ashley, Julie, Megan, Sarah, and Alyssa.

The Adorable O

Owen is at such a cute age and he is SO animated. On our way home from Idaho on Sunday night he was sitting next to Aunt Callie and was pulling a lot of faces. I handed her my camera and she took all of these pictures. There are 15 pics and Granny Jane and Grandma Tisa may be the only ones who will completely appreciate them, so here's to you, Grandmothers...The Adorable Owen (and yes, we realize his face is messy but he's almost 2 and it's almost always messy.)

Gavin is a Preschooler

Gavin started preschool today. He has been looking forward to going to school since Cameron started but I hadn't found a preschool for him...until Monday! He goes twice a week, Thursdays and Fridays, for 2 hours at a time. He was very excited this morning and not at all nervous. I can't believe he is getting so big! Here are the obligatory pictures on the front step...

And here he is when we picked him up after his first day! If anyone is wondering, Owen and I went shopping while Gavin was in school. It was SO nice to have only 1 child and I was able to just browse without worrying about who was running away, who was getting into something else, who was hitting who, etc...I'm going to love this!

Riding Bikes

A favorite past time of Gavin and Cameron is riding bikes and lucky for them, we live in a place that has sidewalks all the way up and down the street and a really big hill. They LOVE it!

Fun Run!

Cameron's school had a fun run today. For their school fundraiser, they said that if each student was pledged at least $25 they promised the entire school a spirit shirt. Well, they met and exceeded the goal (thanks Callie, Emily, Granny, and Grandma for your donations.) We went to watch as the entire school ran down the road. In all honesty, it was pretty anti-climatic and I almost didn't see Cameron until he said, "Um, I'm right here."

They had a police escort, which the little boys enjoyed more than the rest of the Fun Run.
It was a beautiful day outside and it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves.

Our Pet Frog

When we moved into this house, the owners (we're renting) left behind their 3 goldfish in their waterfall/pond in the back yard. The boys have thoroughly enjoyed watching and occassionally feeding the fish. This afternoon Cameron came running in and told Adrienne (who is visiting) and I that they had to play inside now because they had found a frog and it was scary!

The frog had jumped into a window well and we decided that the frog may need help getting back to the water. However, I was not even close to wanting to touch a frog...doesn't that give you warts or something? Luckily, Adrienne was not afraid. She jumped down and picked it up, then carried it to the pond and set it loose. The boys were in awe. Gavin even touched it!

So we have 3 goldfish and 1 frog in our pond...at least for now!

My 29th Birthday!

Yesteday was my 29th birthday. I'm getting old. Emily, Callie, Jeff, Thomas, and Mat came for Sunday dinner. I made Chinese: homemade egg rolls, lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, and rice. It was fabulous. Callie brought an icecream cake...delicious.

We sang and played games and visited until 10 or so. I got some very nice gifts...Spence gave me some black pearl earings, Dave and Tisa gave me a "Prada" purse (from the Hawaii swap meet),

Emily & Jeff gave me some bracelets and earrings, Callie gave me a hoodie and made me a shirt. If you watch "So You Think You Can Dance" you'll understand the shirt, if not, sorry.

It was a great birthday. And congrats to my friend Jana Hanni who had a baby boy yesterday, too.

Birthday Dinners & Goodbyes

Grandma Tisa and Grandpa Dave visited Idaho/Utah for the entire month of August. Cameron and Gavin loved getting to know their grandparents again. They moved to Hawaii when Cameron was just 14 months old and Gavin had only met them one time, 2 years ago prior to this. Owen had not met them but it took him only a minute to fall in love with both of them. He didn't call Grandma "Grandma" because he learned that he could call her "Tisa" and everyone would giggle. We had to say goodbye to them on Saturday night. Tom also came to dinner with us so it was a mini family reunion. We hope they'll be back for good by Christmas!

We were also celebrating my birthday that night so Emily, Jeff, and Jeff's younger brother, Thomas, and Callie and her friend, Mat, came to dinner with us. What fun...
